Exkursion to FZJ

29.05.2026|00:23 Uhr

Excursion day. From lecture hall to laboratory!

In May, our fire simulation course at the went on a one-day excursion to the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) — and it was packed:

  • Hands-on fire experiments at our institute — students designed and ran their own tests, seeing fire dynamics unfold in front of them instead of just on a screen
  • A tour of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) and its HPC facilities — the computational muscle behind our large-scale fire simulations
  • A look at the quantum computer — a fascinating outlook on where scientific computing is heading – maybe one day also for fire simulations

Thanks to the experimental team and JSC for hosting us — and to our students for making it a great day!
